PRESIDENT OF CITY UNIVERSITY OF SEATTLE ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Bellevue, WA – June 4, 2012 – After six years of inspired leadership with City University of Seattle (CityU), President Lee Gorsuch announced he will retire in one year on June 30, 2013. During his tenure, President Gorsuch advanced the university’s academic rigor, international vision, and global partnerships considerably. These advancements led to greater access, flexibility, and opportunity for students around the globe. Launching CityU’s first Doctoral program; a successful partnership with Starbucks; delivering international partnerships with China, Mexico, and Vietnam; and soon, moving CityU’s headquarters and main campus to the thriving South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle, are all among President Gorsuch’s major accomplishments. More than 14,000 students will have received degrees from CityU during his service as President.

According to Hiep Q. Quach, Chairman of the Board, “The Board of Governors is grateful to President Gorsuch for his insightful leadership, vision, and impact. We look forward to having a strong partnership with him and his leadership team over the next year as we search for his successor. Considering the innovative initiatives his leadership team is doing, we know there are great times ahead for CityU.”

Over the next 12 months, the board will conduct a national search for CityU’s next president. Specifically, they will look for someone with the right balance of academic rigor and proven business success who can take CityU into its next chapter, as the flexible college of choice for people in Seattle and around the world who see the value of an education with global insight.
