In January CityU of Seattle celebrated major accomplishments and welcomed several of our international partners and the community at large to open CityU’s new campus located in Seattle’s downtown core.
In early January 2013 City University of Seattle was recognized by US News & World Report to be among the top 50 online bachelor programs in the nation. At the same time, CityU of Seattle was proud to open a state of the art campus and worldwide headquarters in Seattle and dedicate it to the thousands of current students and over 50,000 alumni we serve worldwide.
CityU’s Seattle campus will play a significant role in its ability to continually deliver globally relevant in-demand certificate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. The new facility supports the development and deployment of CityU’s rich educational content. The campus occupies nearly 100,000 square feet of an iconic Seattle building in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood; and features 18 interactive and live-streaming classrooms, 21 breakout conference rooms, a high capacity conference center and much more.
The Seattle campus meets the needs of the 21stCentury student in innovative and flexible ways. The campus is a showcase for

collaborative learning design in its architecture and furnishings, while embracing individualized learning styles with personalized study spaces. The heart of the university is the Dr. Vi Tasler Library and Learning Resource Center, which offers an assortment of technologies, collaborative rooms, shared tables, private booths, and more, where students and staff can meet and engage with one another and around the world.
To deliver on CityU’s commitment to international education, the Seattle campus is also home to the International College – the first global college within a university in the U.S. Students in the college have the opportunity to study on-location and around the world at any of CityU’s other 33 sites across 11 countries, all while receiving a U.S. regionally accredited bachelor degree.

On January 24, CityU welcomed our international partners from Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Greece, Mexico, Slovakia, Romania, Vietnam, India and Switzerland to collaborate on international education and best practices in higher education.
In the morning on January 25 the World Affairs Council and City University of Seattle proudly hosted an International Breakfast Symposium on the Debt Crisis in the EU. This symposium featured Dr. Menbere Workie Tiruneh, Ph.D. as a keynote speaker and four guest panelists. You can read more about it here.
Following the Symposium, also on January 25, CityU dedicated a special room to its

retiring President, President Lee Gorsuch. This room is named the Edward Lee Gorsuch Collaboration Room. It features a special quote, art from an award-winning northwest photographer Art Wolfe, and a view of the city. CityU’s Board of Governors, the President’s family, and the President’s executive team

presented President Lee Gorsuch with this honor.
In the evening, CityU welcomed over 1,000 people to dedicate and open CityU’s Seattle campus and worldwide headquarters.
