Student Profile: Max Chico, Master’s in Human Resources Management

Max Chico graduated from CityU in 2008 with an M.A. in Human Resources Management. He retired from the Navy a year later, and now works as an Employee and Labor Relations Specialist for the Department of Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System.

“Although my experience and background in the Navy was in Human Resources, I knew that in order to achieve the HR career that I wanted, I needed a broad-based education,” said Max during a chat with CityU. “Additionally, I  needed to do it while working full time and needed to complete it prior to my transition from the military.”

Max saw CityU’s programs as the logical choice thanks to the numerous campus options around the Puget Sound area, and the flexible class hours and online schooling options that worked around his incredibly busy schedule.

“My CityU degree obviously played a large part in my selection for my current employment, and I’m sure it will continue to do so for any future opportunity I have. It has allowed me to have a seat on the table, so to speak, in my HR career.”
